BAPTISM
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” - Matthew 28:19
WHAT IS BAPTISM?
Baptism is the symbolic event of immersing a person under water. It signifies that the person being baptized has made a personal decision to trust in Jesus as Lord and Saviour. A ring is used to symbolize a person’s marriage. Baptism is used to symbolize a person’s commitment to following Jesus. Often being baptized is the first step of obedience we take after we accept Christ as our Lord and Saviour.
Going under the water symbolizes identification with Jesus’ death - and our old way of life. Coming up out of the water symbolizes Jesus’ resurrection - and the new life we have with God. Everything about your old life and old way of doing things is symbolically washed away in the water of baptism.
Baptism doesn’t make you a believer, it shows that you already believe in the Lord. Baptism does not save you, only faith in Jesus Christ does.
Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:21, 2:38-39, 22: 14-16; Colossians 2:12

How do I know I’m ready to be baptized?
As soon as you believe, and put your trust in the Jesus as Saviour and Lord, you are ready for baptism.
Does Clearview baptize infants?
At Clearview we dedicate children rather than baptizing them. We see baptism as a reflection of an individual’s decision to follow Jesus. We wait to baptize children until they can make that decision for themselves. For more info on baby dedications click here: Baby Dedication
